“Chloronest” an installation commissioned by CHAT, Hong Kong, is presented in the group exhibition Threading Inwards at CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile). Curated by Wang Weiwei, Eugene Hannah Park, Kurosawa Seiha, and Wang Huan, the exhibition brings together 14 artists from across Asia and explores textile as a vessel for spirituality, memory, emotion, and collective experience.


Chloronest presents an immersive, cave-like stage inspired by CGI green environments and the theatre greenroom — a liminal space of preparation and anticipation. Within this environment, there are no recognizable languages or identifiable forms; the work aims to temporarily shift our awareness into a pure colour experience. It lures the body to crawl and linger, to play with soft forms as we once did as babies, believing in the magic of animality.

Surrounded by green patchwork, soft textured walls, viewers encounter traces of patterns resembling pixelated glyphs. At the center of the wall hangs a mother figure whose anthropomorphic form suggests a multi-breasted insect or alien, evoking deities and goddesses who oversee nature. Her productivity and labor are emphasized through the small forms attached to her main body with entangled soft cords, underscoring themes of generative force, care and the undivided cycle of life.&#38;nbsp;

Collaborative Performance at M+ HK

Initiated by Eaton, HK

A staged fight ritual for unlearning the choreographies inscribed in our learned bodies. Utilizing the spectacle of professional wrestling as a theatre in the round, the match transforms the ring into a site of exorcism, where movement becomes a means of collective somatic release. The Chameleon, a shapeshifting trickster performed by Jas Lin, wields their queer fluidity as a weapon of survival and transformation against The Monster, an enormous soft sculpture created by IV Chan and animated by audience contributions to become a physical embodiment of internalized surveillance and inherited structural forces. Through biomimicry and wrestling movements, the sport performance art becomes a site for reclaiming queer bodily autonomy, with sound artist Alexmalism as the match’s sonic referee. KICKOUT offers an invitation to wrestle with our own conditioning and reimagine what liberation might feel like in the flesh.


Performance consists of 3 chapters :&#38;nbsp;

1/ First introduction dance by Chameleon + Monster in the boxing ring

2/ Audiences’ written answers to our questions will be contributed and inserted inside the body of Monster.

3/ Chameleon final fight dance with Monster in the boxing ring

The legacies of queerness and horror films remain insatiably intertwined. This newly commissioned performance for Art Central 2025 draws inspiration from the campy formalism of B-movies—particularly horror comedy—to explore their grotesquerie while reflecting on the figures of the vampire and motherhood in the Chinese cinematic landscape

The performance consists of 4 scenes (15mins): 

1/ The Birth (Asexual reproduction), 2/ Lab Time (Rite of Passage), 3/ What a Mess (Poop and Milk), 4/ HBD (Gift of Eternal Love). 

Sound material is extracted and remixed from two Hong Kong Movies : Mr. Vampire (1985) and Motherly Love (1961)

In When You Are Not Around, the series meditates on maternal absence and our fraught relationship with the body’s innate functions—often understood through guilt and shame. Merging hard plastic toys like animal ride-ons with supple stuffing, delicate fabrics, vibrant textiles, and intricate embroidered beadwork, the sprawling soft sculptures and installations explore how children’s toys become maternal substitutes, intensifying attachment to objects in the caretaker’s absence. Drawing on Freudian theories of infantile sexuality and the Oedipus complex, these works release repressed urges and subconscious fantasies—from excretion and masturbation to monstrous dreams and bodily pleasure derived from solitary play on toys requiring close physical contact, such as ubiquitous animal-shaped scooters. What is typically seen as disgusting or sordid emerges as playful forms, ruminating on motherhood's entanglement with femininity and how we process being part of our mothers while coping with their absence.

In Too Many Irons in the Fire, the mother/wife is conspicuously absent, replaced instead by fragmented photographs of women’s bodies printed on fabric and transformed into an A–Z flashcard children’s book‑blanket, resting on an ironing board. The work brings together the domestic act of ironing—symbolic of diligent, hardworking women—with imagery often deemed obscene or inappropriate: naked female bodies. Sourced from vintage local pornographic magazines from the early 1990s, these images are intentionally cropped to focus on the body without the head, emphasizing form over individuality. Each image is paired with a different word, inviting ambiguity and tending toward negative connotations when associated with the feminized body.&#38;nbsp;

︎The Good, the Bed and the Snuggly

Engulfing the broken baby bed and antenna, the soft forms strive to represent figures or bodies, but rather, I wish they could evoke forces and energies that would suggest some kind of animalistic entanglement.&#38;nbsp;The assemblage setup was also intended to create a sense of instability to the viewers.&#38;nbsp;As only in a state of disequilibrium, we might be able to experience the threat of life; in other words, the upsurging of life could therefore be realised when death appears so close. &#38;nbsp;Also, by situating the idea of sex (an adult event) on a broken baby bed, somehow reflects a break to the end goal of reproduction. “The Good, the Bed and the Snuggly” is an attempt to combine the desiring of little death and the rebirth,&#38;nbsp; resulting in a state of collision and rupture that invites subconscious fantasies and repressed childhood memories to seep through.

[Poop Me To The Moon]2023
︎︎&#38;nbsp;Solo exhibition commissioned by Para Site for Art Basel HK 2023&#38;nbsp;︎curated by Kobe Ko and Cusson ChengEmploying Julia Kristeva's psychoanalytic concept of abjection to revisit childhood memories, the work explores the boundary between enjoyment and anxiety through an imaginary child's worldview. For this presentation, a wooden complex simulates a childhood bedroom once shared with a younger sister on a bunk bed. Soft sculptures and carpet designs resembling human excrement ooze from the structure and lie on the floor, creating an intimate yet uncanny symbolic space where the child longs for the mother or grieves her absence. The display also includes four wall pieces of embroidered underpants framed in baby toys—undergarments designed to conceal shameful body parts, now presented as trophies to symbolize the child's desire to regain maternal approval and become once again her object of desire. During Art Basel HK, two poetry performances were staged at the Para Site booth.
